Every great adventure starts with curiosity. For Captain Bob, it began when he bought a catamaran in France with little boating experience and set sail across the ocean. His journey around the world brought challenges, close calls, and lessons that inspired him to help others pursue their maritime dreams.

After returning home, Bob earned his captain’s license but felt the education could be better. In 2002, he founded Mariners Learning System, which grew from in-person classes into the first USCG-approved online captain’s license program.
