What is the Ship Radar Endorsement?  

The Ship Radar Endorsement is a specialized qualification added to a commercial radio operator's license, authorizing the holder to repair, maintain, and perform internal adjustments on ship radar equipment.

 

Which FCC licenses can I attach a Ship Radar Endorsement to?  

A Ship Radar Endorsement can only be added to the following FCC licenses: PG, DM, DB, T, T1, or T2.

 

Which element exams must I pass for the Ship Radar Endorsement?  

To obtain the Ship Radar Endorsement, you must pass Element 8, which is the written exam that covers the requirements for the add-on.  

In addition to the passing of the correct element exam, you must...

  • Be a legal resident of (or otherwise eligible for employment in) the United States 
  • Be able to receive and transmit spoken messages in English 
  • Hold one of the licenses mentioned above
