What license can the Towing Endorsement be attached to?
Any USCG license of 200 gross tons or less, including both the OUPV/Six-Pack and Master's license, can be endorsed for assistance towing. This endorsement allows licensed captains to provide towing services for disabled vessels, commonly referred to as "towing for hire."
Do I need additional sea time for a Towing Endorsement?
No, additional sea time is not required to obtain a Towing Endorsement. Upon successfully passing the Towing Endorsement exam, you will receive a certificate that is recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard as meeting the testing requirements.
