The DO qualifies the holder to operate and make basic adjustments to Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) radio installations.
The DM certifies individuals to perform maintenance and repair on GMDSS equipment at sea, ensuring that vital communication systems remain operational.
It also confers the operating authority of both the General Radiotelephone Operator License (PG) and the Marine Radio Operator Permit (MP).
The DB code is used to refer to the GMDSS Radio Operator/Maintainer License in the FCC's official documentation.
